Known as Yaw Tog on stage, his real name is Thorsten Owusu Gyimah. He is a Ghanaian rapper and song writer.

He rose to fame after his song “Soree” became an instant international hit upon its release in 2020; and went on to feature Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur and UK based Ghanaian rapper Stormzy on the remix. The remix garnered over 1 million views on YouTube after just 3 days of its release. This makes him the youngest Ghanaian artiste to get 1 million views in 3 days.

His song, “Sore” peaked at No. 1 on Apple Music Ghana’s Top 100 chart days after it was released.  

Also known as Young Bull, Yaw Tog is noted as one of the proponents of Drill Music or “Asaaka” in Kumasi, Ghana.

He is the last born of 3 children to his parents, Mr. and Mrs Gyimah who live in Santasi, Kumasi.


Yaw Tog was born on May 8th, 2003 in Santasi.


The young rapper is currently 19 years old.


Young Bull had his Senior High School education at Opoku Ware Senior High School (OWASS) located in Santasi in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

He read General Arts with Geography, Economics, Government and Christian Religious Studies (CRS) as his electives.

Yaw Tog completed OWASS after he wrote his final WASSSCE exam on the 6th of October, 2021.

After completing school, colleague rapper, Malcolm Nuna, who also completed Ghana National College last year 2020, visited him on campus to congratulate him.


A short video of Yaw Tog and a beautiful young lady went viral after his song “Sore” topped the chats. The video was captioned; “congratulations baby boo” and social media users read meanings into it with many speculating that she is his girlfriend. The lady identified as Phaney is rather one of his elder sisters and not his girlfriend.

Yaw Tog confirmed the above to Abeiku Santana during an interview on Okay FM; and added that he doesn’t have a girlfriend at the moment since he’s too young to have one.

The latest update is that in 2021, Yaw Tog released a track “Fake Ex” as part of his EP. The track is the third track on the EP which was produced by Khendibeatz. If you listen attentively to the above-mentioned track, you won’t be far from the truth to conclude that Yaw Tog was narrating an ordeal he went through in the hands of one unfaithful lady who nearly messed up his life.

A year after in 2022, Yaw Tog has dropped another banger titled “Sophia” perhaps the exact name of his newfound love which he regards as faithful considering the lyrical content of the song.

“Sophia” was officially premiered in Greater Kumasi specifically inside P2 bar and Lounge at the Kumasi City Mall on Friday, August 5, 2022, before august media personalities in the region.
