Ghanaian Legendary Highlife Icon, AB Crentsil Is Dead

Ghanaian Highlife legend, Alfred Benjamin Crentsil, also known as AB Crentsil has died aged 79. He died today 13th July, 2022 after suffering from an illness for some time.

The passing of the renowned vocalist was confirmed by sound engineer, Fred Kyei Mensah also called Fredyma on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in a post on Facebook.

FAREWELL AB CRENSTIL. The original composer and singer of the famous and controversial songs, ‘Moses and Atia’, AB Crenstil, has died! He had a stint with a lot of bands before joining the Sweet Talks Band with Smart Nkansah and then his own band, Ahenfo. His hit songs, ‘Juliana and Obi ba wiase’, cannot be forgotten,” Fredyma’s post read.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb, Fredyma intimated that the veteran singer had been sick for some time now.

Friends and loved ones have sent in their tributes for the late prolific composer and musician.

He also picked up several Excellence Awards including the Fontomfrom Evergreen Award, which is a special honor bestowed upon a musician with 15-20 years of continuous music experience.
