Is it that Nano SIM cards indeed disappear or it’s just my carelessness?
I have misplaced 7 Nano SIMs at different occasions at one small corner. And I’m still at a fix as to if they actually disappeared or I was just lazy during my search. This is my personal experience with Nano SIMs.
First of all, I guess we all know what a SIM card is. Once you’ve owned a mobile phone before, you should have an idea of what I’m talking about. And for those who are at a fix as to what a Nano SIM card is, let me explain.
A Nano Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) is the smallest part of a standard SIM card. We have the standard SIM card with the excess plastic around the golden/silicon/phosphorus layer. The full card is a SIM card; the medium sized one is a Micro SIM card and the smallest portion without excess plastic around it is the Nano SIM card.
In recent times, TELCOS sell their sim cards already cut into all sizes so it’s easier changing them to suit your phone.
My experience began when I was having network challenges with one network provider on my MiFi. So I decided to change networks. Let me add that my MiFi is decoded so I can use any network provider’s SIM card on it. My MiFi uses a standard SIM but the new SIM I was about to use was a Nano SIM. So I had to take out the Nano part of the first SIM and replace it with the other SIM.
Just as I changed it, I was back on full and satisfactory internet speed. And because I was in a hurry to finish up with what I was doing online, I totally forgot about the first Nano SIM.
I was done in 5 minutes and it was time to place back the first Nano SIM back in the MiFi and I couldn’t find it.
I got confused because I had not moved an inch during this whole period; but was glued to my work desk trying to make sure I submitted this report to my boss and all of a sudden, I couldn’t find the first Nano SIM. I searched everywhere in every possible corner and even expanded my search to a 2 Meter diameter around me; but I did not find my initial Nano SIM. I waited for 2 days hoping that it probably would show up out of the blues. This did not happen so I bought a new SIM card for my MiFi.
It’s no news when your SIM card gets missing. However, what is surprising here is that I have misplaced 6 more Nano SIMs in similar manner with the last one occurring just 2 days ago. And in all of these instances, I never find them again.
This struck me into thinking if Nano SIMs actually disappear or it’s just me who is lazy when it comes to searching for them.
