The world we see today did not appear as it is right now just like that; it took some time of changes from one era to another to another. And that is why we have technologies that have become irrelevant today.

Yes, times have changed from the old to the new. And I can even assure you that the modern world we see today will be archaic to the next generation; lets say 20-25 years to come.

There are so many gadgets, equipment and fashion styles that were so much revered some 20 to 30 years ago. However, if you give same to a young man today, he would reject it outright.

Because of more advanced inventions and better ways of doing things, so many items have lost relevance; they have become obsolete. This post aims at throwing light on Three (3) of such items.

Join me as I take you through a journey of my world.

Diskette (Floppy Disk)

A diskette as we used to call it was the pride of every IT jerk between the 90’s up to mid 2000’s. The floppy disk also had it’s own revolutions as it did not just begin from the 3 1/2 Inch high density device we came to meet.

The storage device was the pride of every young man back in the days; as we used it to store files from the computer. Although it’s capacity wasn’t so huge, we had to manage it; as there was no other option until the more spacious Compact Disk was invented. Thank God for technology.

Nintendo Gameboy

Growing up in the 90’s was interesting as a kid as the only thing you wanted as a gift for Christmas was a Nintendo Game boy.

The hand held game console which was first developed in the United States of America was an 8-bit game with a lot of eye catching games for kids. Although production ceased in 2003, we still have a lot of memories of this console which was overtaken by Sony’s Play Station.

This is the second out of our technologies which have become irrelevant today

Complimentary cards

We will lastly look at Complimentary Cards. A complimentary card or business card is a card containing basic information about a company or a person. They are mostly shared or exchanged during formal introductions for memory purposes or a way of affording the receiver a convenient way to contact on a later date.

The complimentary card, although not entirely obsolete, has become less popular because of the introduction of the mobile phone and electronic mail services. Let me just say that the internet has entirely changed the way things are done.

When you meet someone, be it formal or informal and you would love to keep contacts with them, a more convenient modern way is just pulling out your mobile phone and dialing the number of the person on interest on it. Wow, that is really efficient.

And with the upsurge of technology, you can simply tag all your details to a particular contact on google. So once I get your number, your email address, business info and even postal address will pop up.
