The mortal remains of the late former Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie aka Sir John, has arrived in his hometown, Sakora Wonoo in the Kwabre East District in the Ashanti Region, for interment. 

In videos making the rounds on social media, family, friends and loved ones gathered at his family house to welcome the coffin containing his mortal remains. 

The coffin was covered in cardboard paper; and as it made its way through the crowd, you could hear cries and wailing for the departed soul.

Sir John who is the former General Secretary of the ruling NPP died of COVID-19 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Wednesday 1st July 2020. 

His funeral rites will run from June 2 to June 5. A thanksgiving service will be held on Saturday June 5 at the Sakora Wonoo SDA Church at 8:00am.
