Deputy coach for Ghana Premier League champions Accra Hearts Of Oak, Hamza Obeng says he is not relieved despite recording their first ever victory in the League against Elimina Sharks in Match Day 8 at the Nduom Sports Stadium.
A debut goal by the prodigal son, Gladson Awako gave Hearts the needed victory. After penning his signature for Hearts of Oak and making the headlines in the past month due to his indecision as to whether he will play for the club or not, the value for his inclusion in the team has been justified.
At a post match press conference, Hamza Obeng said; “I’m still not relieved. It is a match after match and we are hoping to get a win in our next match. We know what we can do; we don’t want to talk too much; we won the game and the game itself will talk to us”.
“We had a very fantastic game looking at how our opponents played, I think they have a very good team.” Our system was to have patience, build up from behind, and try not to form a direct play. We transition from defence to the mildfield and to attack and it was helping us in the early parts of the game.
He continued that by saying; “we should have buried the game after the 10th minute of the first half but we were not able to utilize the chances that we got.
“We went to the recess and we changed our game plan and it worked for us, looking at the tactical change we made.”
“We told Awako not to stay too far from our attackers and the defenders. We told the players that when we get the ball in our half, they should release the ball to him (Awako). And indeed, the attackers released the ball to him to get the opportunity and shoot from afar when he gets the space.”
