Ex-Employee Of Hearts Of Oak Reports Club To Status Committee – Demands Salary Arrears And Compensation

Ex Chief Commercial Officer for Premier League side, Accra Hearts Of Oak, Charles Kwarteng has dragged his previous employers to the status committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over ill-treatment during his stint with the club

Mr. Charles Kwarteng started working with Heart of Oak in September 2019 as commercial officer. He secured a partnership deal with Star Assurance, which ended the club a brand-new bus as part of their sponsorship package.

Speaking to Papa Mystro on Asempa FM’s SportsNite show, he narrated how his former employees failed to fulfill their contractual promises stated in his contract.

“Before I resigned from my position at the club, I told them that they needed to pay me, at the end of the month. I signed contracts with the club, which stated they had to pay me a fuel allowance. However, I worked for the club for 24 months, for which 17 months they haven’t paid me my fuel allowance”.

The hardworking commercial officer also secured numerous deals like Star Life, Adonko energy drink and renegotiated with Goil Ghana to partner with the club after their previous marriage with the club ended.

“Per the agreement, I was told they would give me a car as means of transport. My role required for an agent car, which wasn’t given to me. I used my old car as a means of transport, which I spent a lot on maintenance. I used the old-time car for two years”.

He further noted that his SSNIT contribution has been in arrears for over 14 months.

“Tier two is a mandatory statutory payment. In two years, they haven’t paid. So I sat down with my lawyers and discussed with them, and they advised me to send them to the apt place. That is why I sent the matter to the status committee to probe into the case”, Mr. Charles Kwarteng stated.
