‘We Exploited Their Weak Point By Pressing Them Hard’ – Olympics Coach Annor Walker Explains Ga Matse Derby Victory

Head trainer of Accra Great Olympics Daniel Annor Walker has explained the deficit in the set-up of their city rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, which they took advantage of, to beat them by a lone goal to register their first ever home defeat on week 16 of the Ghana Premier League at Accra Sports Stadium. This is a rival match in the Ga Mantse derby.

A flick pass from Abey Quaye to Yussif Razzak ran through the two center backs of Hearts of Oak to plant the ball at the right corner of the net, resulting in the only goal in the Ga Mantse derby.

According to former gaffer for Nania FC, Kpando Hearts of Lions, he pressed the “Phobias lads” hard.

“We lost our match against Kotoko last Friday, so we came back to Accra Sports Stadium to make amends. We wanted to win this match for people to see that we aren’t in the Premier League to joke.”

“Hearts is a team that plays free flow football, so I planned for them. We decided we were not going to walk into the game, give them room to play. We pressed them high immediately, they got the ball and that’s exactly what the boys did today, and we won. Take the three points.”

However, Hearts have lost their 4th league game and first home loss on match day 16. The “Phobia lads” are 10 points adrift of their bitterest rivals Kotoko, who commands the top spot with 33 points.
