Coach of Bechem United Football Club, Kassim Mingle Ocansey has expressed his disenchantment in referee Gabriel Opoku Antwi for awarding a dubious penalty to Asante Kotoko SC leading to their 2-0 defeat in their second match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
The “Hunters”, after their hard work of 90 minutes left it late, losing the three maximum points to the home side.
At the post-match interview, Kassim Mingle blamed the referee for inflicting a painful defeat on them.
“It is very bad to play such a game; to lose in the dying minutes is painful, but that is football for you. Some of my players lost concentration in the dying minutes that caused our defeat”.
When asked about their injured players during the game, he said; “When we go to training, we will see what to do, we have some good substitutes who didn’t play. We will work on them to replace those who got injured”.
Kassim Mingle further intimated that; “the penalty awarded to Kotoko wasn’t a penalty, the person just crossed him, and you all saw what happened “.
The “Hunters” coach believes that Kotoko captain, Ismael Ganiyu should be shown the exit door after impeding on his opponent.
“The last man was beaten, and he held the player. The referee should have given him a red card instead of a yellow card”. He explained.
