Public Relations Officer for Accra Heart of Oak SC, Kwame Opare Addo says there is nothing wrong with extending the contract of Abdul Manaf Umar Gumah if he has decided to proceed on a loan to a newly promoted side Real Tamale United(RTU).
Abdul Manaf Umar Gumah played 20 matches and netted 3 goals for the club this season; and has requested to join RTU on loan with a year contract left with the club. However, Hearts of Oak SC are in intensive talk with the midfielder to extend his contract with the club.
According to Opare Addo, Manaf put in a request that to join RTU on loan. The team has granted his requests and no one can stop his decision. But as a club, we have our policy and if you are going on loan, its means you are reducing a contract you have with the club.
“The only thing we have discussed with Manaf is that let us re-sign a year contract with him. Because he is left with a year contract with the club and if he leaves for RTU without renewing his contract, his contract will end on loan at RTU”.
“It is advisable that in football, these are the things we have to do to for the interest of the club. The club can’t stop you from going on loan, but in our wisdom extend a year contract with the club. So, that if you go, you will come back to your mother club which I think the club has not done anything wrong”
“We want to be tied him down, if he goes he will come back because he still has qualities in him,” Opare Addo told Asempa FM on the “Ultimate sports morning show”.
