It’s that time of the year again where deserving artistes and music industry players are rewarded for their efforts and hard work that contributed to pushing the music industry forward.
However, this year’s edition saw the addition of four new categories being added to the list of already tall category; they are EP of the Year, Best Gospel Song, Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year and Best Aftobeats/Afropop Artiste.
VGMA 2022 Nominees Announcement
The nominees list for the 2022 VGMAs was released during a virtual ceremony on Saturday, March 19th, 2022. It began at 11am and run through to 4 pm, with the nominees’ announcement show at 8 pm, which was aired live on TV3 & on all VGMA social media pages.
VGMA 2022; Date, Venue And Time
The 2022 VGMA awards night will be held over two (2) nights just as happened during the 2021 edition. This year’s event will be held on Friday 6th May and Saturday 7th May. The Grand Arena (Conference Centre) has been chosen as the official venue.
Artiste With Highest Number of Nominations
BET Award winning Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie turned out as the act with the highest number of nominations, leading the park with nine (9) slots. KiDi came in second with eight (8) nominations, Black Sherif got seven (7) Kuami Eugene took six (6) slots. Also, “Nothing I Get” hitmaker Fameye also had five (5).
Also, Joe Mettle, King Promise, Sarkodie, Kuami Eugene, KiDi and Black Sherif have been selected as the lucky six (6) to battle it out for the artistes of the year accolade.
