Juliet Abankwa’s first Premier League goal of the season gave Thunder Queens a 1-0 win at Sea Lions, ending their unbeaten record on Match day 6 of the ongoing Women’s Premier League at the Nduom Sports Complex. 

The Sea Lions edged a tight first half, but Thunder Queens went ahead on 74 minute through Abankwa’s incredibly improvised finish. 

The home side came closer to equalizing after a penalty was awarded them. But Abiba Issah failed to announce her presence, hitting the wood work. 

The visitor’s narrow win over Sea Lions has pushed them to second place on the league table with 11 points; three points adrift from league leader Hasaacas Ladies. 

Meanwhile, Abankaw has joined Matilda Kwao to be the only players that have scored an away goal for thunder Queens this season. 

Thunder Queens have played 3 away matches with one win, one draw and a lose. They have played 6 matches is all with three wins, two draws and a lose; and have scored 10 goals and conceded 6 goals. They have kept 3 clean sheets with 11 points. 

Sea Lions have also played 6 matches, W 0, D 5, L1 accumulating 5 points sitting 6th on the league 

log.
