Yvonne Nelson has disclosed that although she is willing to premiere her upcoming movie “Fifty Fifty” in Kumasi, it can’t happen.
The Ghanaian actress is set to premiere a new movie titled FiftyFifty this Saturday, 21st May 2022, at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra.
But fans of Yvonne Nelson in Kumasi will not have the opportunity to witness the premiere as the actress says there are no cinemas in the Ashanti capital with numbers that make sense to her financially. She was speaking on Hitz FM with Andy Dosty.
The host asked her what her challenge as a producer is, to which she answered saying; “my challenge as a producer is I wish there were more avenues to show my movies. For example, on Saturday I was just hoping the whole of Ghana will be watching“.
But according to Yvonne, this can not happen because there are no cinemas across the country. “Because when you go through my comments you see people asking ‘what about those in Kumasi? what about us in Volta region?’ and it makes us sad that only those in Accra can watch the movie,” she disclosed.
Andy Dosty prompted her that the Kumasi City Mall has about three cinemas and she said; “but sitting capacity is like 60, 40” so flying people including the cast and team there for those few numbers won’t make business sense to her.
She said “when you calculate all that goes into it, the logistics, the hotel … it’s business, I am not doing it to show of that I am a producer” so as a businesswoman it doesn’t make sense to me business-wise.
