Nigerian born underground afropop duo based in Ghana have fumed about the huge fees Sarkodie demanded from them after they approached him for a feature in one of their songs.
The group by name ENE Yatt and made up of brothers Elvis pamo Owugah (Smart) and Richard Ebi Owugah (Snazy) stated that Sarkodie charged them a staggering $25,000 (GHS 245,625.00), which is equivalent to about over 2.4 billion old cedis, for a feature.
ENE Yatt was on Hitz FM for an interview when they made this allegation. And according to one of them, he could have easily paid the said amount Sarkodie was demanding from him. But he did not understand why the award winning rapper would want to charge a young up and coming musician like himself that amount of money.
“Paying this money is not the money but taking that money from an underground artist…most artist do not know how to build relationships”.
They were asked if their Nigerian citizenship had anything to do with the price tag to which one of them answered that Sarkodie shouldn’t be demanding so much from underground artists like himself.
“We are not that kind of artist to pay that amount for a feature. How much do we pay for video, promo etc, if we have to pay that amount for just a feature,” he said.
He noted that just because a song has Sarkodie on it does not guarantee that it would be successful. As a result, it was quite sad that he intended to “steal” so much money from them.
“We spoke to his manager, Angeltown and Possigee and that was still the amount. Having Sarkodie on your song will give you the hype you need”, he noted.
