POEM: Are the ‘gods’ to blame?

Are the ‘gods’ to blame? I doubt,
I don’t think the ‘gods’ are to blame,
Yes, the ‘gods’ cannot be blamed for our own negligence,
For intentionally refusing to ‘think’ with the brains they gave us.

Are the ‘gods’ to blame? No Way,
I cannot fathom why you would intentionally throw rubbish in a drain,
and then blame the ‘gods’ when calamity strikes,
The ‘gods’ have given us brains, let us use them.

Are the ‘gods’ to blame? Never can they,
Never can they be blamed after we sit aloft,
sit aloft and watch as our politicians loot the state’s coffers,
And enjoy their booty whilst the citizenry rot in lack and poverty.

Are the ‘gods’ to blame? How can they?
How can the gods be blamed when we intentionally hurt one another,
hurt one another all because of our selfish gains,
To the extent of giving your brother’s life up in exchange for money, fame and power.

Are the ‘gods’ to blame? We don’t have the morale right to blame them,
the right to blame them when we cherish wickedness and malice,
over a good name and healthy relationship,
How much would it cost you if you make sincere sacrifices without expecting a thing in return?

What can we do?
We can only stop playing the blame game when we are at fault,
and stop playing the devils advocate and being a torn in the flesh of our fellow brethren,
and work hard to make our society a better place to live in.
It is only after that, that we can confidently pat ourselves in the back and say “Ayekoo” for the work well done.
