Meg Ryan is reflecting on how her career in Hollywood played out, including her beloved rom-coms You’ve Got Mail and When Harry Met Sally, revealing her belief in destiny.
Meg was labelled America’s Sweetheart after her trilogy of rom-coms with late director Nora Ephron, including You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle and the most beloved: When Harry Met Sally.
As Meg’s latest rom-com What Happens Later is due to release next month, she was asked if she believes that everything happens for a reason.
“In retrospect I feel it’s true, yeah,” she told People magazine, adding, “The movies I did with Nora had an operative thing about kismet, like destiny and fate. And there’s something really comforting about that.”
The actress also opened up on her “giant break” from Hollywood, sharing what made her decide to take a step back form fame.
“I took a giant break because I felt like there’s just so many other parts of my experience as a human being I wanted to develop,” she said.
“It’s nice to think of it as a job and not a lifestyle. And that is a great way of navigating it for me,” she added.
Meg is mom to two kids, son Jack, 31, whom she welcomed with ex-husband Dennis Quaid, and daughter Daisy, 18, whom she adopted in 2006.
Meg’s latest rom-com What Happens Later will bow in theaters on November 3.
