News just coming in has it that renowned South African preacher and award winning activist, Archbishop Desmond Tutu has died.

The Anglican cleric had a good humor, inspiring message and conscientious work for civil and human rights; making him a revered leader during the struggle to end apartheid in his native South Africa. He was 90.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa broke the news today Sunday 26th December as he expressed his condolences to Tutu’s family and friends, calling him “a patriot without equal.”

”A man of extraordinary intellect, integrity and invincibility against the forces of apartheid, he was also tender and vulnerable in his compassion for those who had suffered oppression, injustice and violence under apartheid, and oppressed and downtrodden people around the world,” Ramaphosa said.

Desmond Tutu was sick for several years. In 2013, he underwent tests for a persistent infection, and he was admitted to hospital several times in following years.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
