I Am Getting Married To My Worst Enemy

Hello Friends, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I am getting married next month ending weekend and the bad news is that; she was my worst enemy.

This is how young Lawyer, Kwame Dentu announced his marriage ceremony to a group of friends who had gathered in a mutual friend’s house party.

Kwame was an ambitious young man who had a lot of high hopes and expectations in life. He had completed the Ghana School of law 3 years earlier and was called to the bar about a year ago. Life was already looking for sweet and rosy for Kwame who was making a good income from practicing as a lawyer.

In the past year, Kwame relocated from Abetifi where he had lived all his life (apart from school life) to the capital Accra to practice law.

It was when he relocated to Accra that he met an old acquaintance whom he knew from his childhood days.

This young lady had also relocated to Accra after graduating as an Accountant; and was working for an international accounting firm.

Upon seeing Akua, Kwame moved back a bit because he had met a long standing enemy. Way back in Primary school, Akua who was a hard nut to crack engaged Kwame in a fight over a pencil. In the end, Kwame ended up in the hospital with bruises and was very determined not to have anything to do with Akua ever again.

However, after so many years, Akua had changed so much so that she was looking so radiant and beautiful. They by-passed each other that afternoon. But as fate will have it, they later came across each other again in the evening in a restaurant.

This time round, the urge to talk to that beautiful lady was so strong so that Kwame put forth his hands in a big to greet Akua. She, being the repentant lady she had become, also stretched her hand with a very smelting smile.

And that was the beginning of another chapter in the lives of these two young and ambitious individuals.

Kwame and Akua got talking and since they were from the same town, they had a lot to talk about. Akua had made a few trips outside the country to visit her mum who was now resident in the United Kingdom.

Kwame, on the other hand, had traveled to the USA on an exchange program during his LLB days in the University of Ghana.

They talked at length and kept on contacting each other as there was a lot catching up to do. Hours of conversations turned to days to weeks to months and months and months.

One day, out of the blues, Kwame asked Akua if she was seeing anyone; and she replied in the negative. That was when Kwame began making his intentions known to Akua. He told Akua that he felt he was matured enough and was looking for a life partner so he would love to ask her out.

Akua, though skeptical, welcomed the idea and told him how she had also admired the gentleman he had grown to become.

…to be continued.
