Glover first teased his upcoming work in March on Instagram by sharing a screenshot which looks like his track list for his new album Atavista.

This update was marked as a reverse from his retirement decision he shared during Grammy Awards in 2018.

He explained during Grammy Award‘s red-carpet, “I’m making another project right now. But I like endings, I think they’re important to progress. I think if a lot of things had death clauses in them, we wouldn’t have a lot of problems in the world, to be honest. I think ending are good because they force things to get better.”

In 2023, Glover told E! News, “I’m making music right now, I love it. I’m actually working, I’m in the studio. I’ve been bringing people in, like secret people, working on little things.”
