Diana Hamilton is a multiple award winning Ghanaian female gospel musician whose style of music is mostly contemporary, even though she had a Pentecostal upbringing.

Diana Hamilton became the first female artistes, and the second gospel artistes to win the Vodafone Ghana Music Award’s (VGMA) Artiste of the Year in 2021 after beating stiff competition from closest contender, KiDi, and Sarkodie.

How Diana Hamilton Started Her Music Career

At a very tender age of 13 years old, Diana Hamilton began by backing some popular and top gospel musicians in Ghana including Francis Agyei.

First Album – “Ɔsoro bɛkasa”

Due to her consistency in the music scene, she released her debut album in 2007 titled, “Ɔsoro bɛkasa” to wit “Heaven will speak.” This album received a lot of airplay which contributed in bringing her to the limelight. Diana Hamilton has a very powerful voice which has made her a talking point in the African Gospel scene. She has ministered on several top stages and church across the world.

First VGMA Nomination

Her debut album, “Ɔsoro bɛkasa” earned her a first Ghana Music Awards nomination in the Best Female Vocal Performance and Gospel Song of the Year categories in 2008.

Second Album – “Ensi wo yie”

She release her second album titled “Ensi wo yie” to wit “Things Will Get Better For You” three (3) years after her first album (2010), which established her as one of the major forced to reckon with in the Ghana music industry, even though she’s a gospel artiste.

Third and Fourth Albums – “Blessings” and “Yehowah”

“Mone Yo”

Her song, “Mone Yo” which she released in 2018 won the “Gospel Song of the Year” in that years VGMAs. Diana Hamilton headlined the 2019 popular Harvest Praise program which takes place in Accra every year. She won the Most Streamed Female Act of the Year Award at 3Music Women’s Brunch in 2021.

Also in March of that same year (2021), she she was among the Top 30 Most Influential Women for Music according to 3Music Awards Women’s Brunch.

Despite her many hit songs, her song “Nsenkyireni Nyankopon” changed everything for her due to the impact and popularity the song had nationwide. She won the Gospel Song of the Year award for the second time at the 2020 VGMA’s.

Diana release her single “Adom”, one of the songs that was nominated in the 2021 VGMA‘s. The song eventually earned her some awards on the night. Speaking during an interview as to what inspired the heart-touching song Adom, Diana Hamilton said that her sister who had suffered several miscarriages was the inspiration behind the lyrics of her “Adom” viral song. The song was one of the biggest songs in Ghana in 2021.
