The creator of the crime drama, Blue Lights recently announced its comeback to screens starting Monday, April 15 as per BBC report.

The co-creator of Belfast-based police drama Blue Lights called its second series a “worthy successor”.

Adam Patterson and Declan Lawn have written and co-created the series, which revolves around ‘a batch of newly-qualified officers navigating policing in a post-conflict Northern Ireland.’

The series first season set a record of more than seven million viewers last year, in 2023 according to the report by BBC.

While talking about Blue Lights, Lawn told BBC News, “There’s a sense that you feel when you come back for a second season that there’s something that people have liked, or even loved.”

“It’s always up to the audiences, you can never take anything for granted,” he added.

Lawn noted that the latest series is all about the “relentless, grinding daily pressure” of policing in Northern Ireland.

He further added, “There’s something about it being here with the particular pressures and dangers they face that make people across the water [Great Britain] intrigued by it.”

The Blue Lights was the biggest drama series in Northern Ireland in 2023. Its second series will premiere on BBC One on Monday 15 April.
