Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kweku Frimpong known in showbiz as Black Sherif is a leading Ghanaian musician and performer from Ghana. He shot to fame in Africa and the world over after his Second Sermon single featuring Nigerian superstar, Burna Boy, went viral.

Black Sherif also known as Killa Blacko, every since appearing on the music scenes, seems to be making exploits as he has taken over the music space. His style, flow, dexterity, attack and approach to his lyrics and music is something out of the ordinary; with many tipping him to be the first ever Ghanaian musician to win a Grammy’s for Ghana.

In May 2022, Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Amaarae and Smallgod met Kendrick Lamar when he visited Ghana to hold a private album listening party in Accra for his new album, Mr. Morales & The Big Steppers.

In that same month, he released the much anticipated music video for his “Kwaku the Traveller” banger on the 19th of May, 2022. The music video which is more of a movie depicting the various stages of life Black Sherif has been through garnered over 600k views on YouTube in 12 hours.

Back Sheriff was born in Konongo in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He was raised in “Zongo” until he left for Accra to pursue his music career.

Popularly referred to as Blacko, the young star began his career as a dancer and later switched to music while in secondary school. In 2019, he released “Cry For Me”; but only made a name in 2020 thanks to the success of his hit song called “Money”. In 2021, Black Sherif posted a viral freestyle on his Twitter page – that caught the attention of music producer Hammer, Sarkodie, and several Ghanaian musicians and industry players. Days after the freestyle went viral, Black Sherif was seen hanging out with rap heavyweight and Sarkcess music CEO, Sarkodie.

Controversy

On the 11th of April 2022, a lawsuit was filed against Black sheriff for alleging breaching a contract. According to the statement in the lawsuit, Black Sherif ignored his investor after he invested heavily in his career.

Again, Black Sherif is said to have signed a distribution agreement with Empire Music without his investor’s permission, despite the fact that he allegedly had a business management contract with him. The law suite filed at the court by his investor, Shadrach Agyei Owusu, the CEO of Waynes Chavis Consult sought to restrict Black Sherif from performing at events without his authorization.
