Ckay Early Life
Chukwuka Ekweani’s love for music was driven by his father, who was a choir conductor at their local church. He fell in love with musical instruments and learnt how to play the piano from his dad at a very tender age. A friend then introduced him to the production software Fruity Loops. Chukwuka Ekweani began his music career as a member of a band, made up of him and two other band mates, and then went solo with the name Ckay.
From the onset, his family were so supportive of his dream, being the reason why he began producing and writing his own songs at a tender age of 13 years old.
Ckay relocated from Anambra state to Lagos in 2014 to begin doing music professionally. He began as a production intern at Chocolate City music in 2015. He later got signed to Loopy music the same year (2015) which later merged with Chocolate City when MI Abaga became the CEO. Ckay made his production debut, “Third Mainland Bridge” in Chocolate City Music. The TICBN Vol. 1 album project featured MI Abaga and Moti Cakes; and did so well on several charts.
Breakthrough
It was not until August 2016 that Ckay was signed officially to Chocolate City Music as an artiste. He released his first official single “Nkechi Turn Up”.
