Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has once again shaded the current Akufo-Addo led government over its lack of concern for the ordinary Ghanaian on the street.

And according to her in a tweet, believing that the Akufo-Addo government will make something good happen in this country is like believing that it will snow in Ghana.

The government is currently on a mission to shove the unpopular e-levy down the throats of Ghanaians by making sure that the 1.75% electronic tax levy is passed into law and implemented. And according to the government, this e-levy will solve all of Ghana’s problems.

It sounds quiet funny as you and I know very well that most countries which are doing so well economically can’t even boast of a third of the natural resources Ghana boasts of. But they’re still doing well for themselves.

Fuel prices are at its highest peak in Ghana’s history with a liter of petrol going for GHc7.105, and transports and service tarifs all being increased at alarming rates. Meanwhile salaries of public sector workers continue to remain as lean and tiny as they can be.

So is the government telling us that with all the cocoa, oil and gas, gold, timber, rubber, manganese and bauxite we have, they can’t solve our problems; but it’s the almighty 1.75% e-levy that will make Ghana heaven on earth?
