Auxiliary EC Staff Express Disappointment In Delayed Payment Of Allowances, 5 Months After 2020 General Elections

Auxiliary Staff of Ghana’s Electoral Commission who were engaged as support staff for the 2020 General Elections are yet to receive their allowances for the roles they played.

And this has obviously infuriated some of them who have now resorted to social media to drive home their grievances.

In a screenshot sighted by Jerry of depunch.com, an aggrieved EC official who was engaged in December last year spoke about how people try to read political meanings when the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa is being asked about the issue.

According to him, Jean Mensa was very emphatic that the allowances would be paid by the end of December; just a month after the election. It did not materialize.

On the 26th of April 2021, a letter from the Deputy Chairman, Corporate Services of the EC clearly stated that; the EC had began paying these allowances. But up to date, payment is still pending.
