Army Ladies Defeat Immigration Ladies In Services Derby In Narrow Win At El-Wak Stadium  


Zinatu Alhassan’s second half goal sent Army Ladies to 5th position in the league, beating security services rivals Immigration Ladies by a goal to nil in the first round of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) at El Wak sports stadium. 

Both teams began poorly in the first department of the game, failing to put the ball on the green turf to swing adequate passes together. The half ended in a 0-0 stalemate. 

After recess, both teams gave their fans a stunning performance which saw Army Ladies take advantage of a few opportunities created. 

The visitors rose to the occasion in the early start of recess, but Army Ladies back line gallantly stepped out to sweep the front of their goal post. 

Immigration Ladies started initiating attack from the defense by possession through the midfield and to their attackers.

Army Ladies found their feet quickly and adopted the short passes, which caused a lot of trouble to their service rivals. 

Zinatu Alhassan, in the 65th minute, capitalized on a defensive blander. She dribbled past her marker with a magnificent spin onto the ball in the edge of the 18 yard box to break the deadlock for the home side. 

She registered her first Premier League goal of the season and Army Ladies 4th win of the season after Army Ladies poor start of the season. 

Alhassan’s impressive performance earned her the MVP of the match at the end of the 90 minutes.
