Former Los Angeles Rams Aaron Donald sent shockwaves across the National Football League (NFL) after he announced retirement from the sport last week after 10 legendary seasons, The US Sun reported.
Fans of the renowned defensive force flooded with tributes and reactions expressing their disbelief over Donald’s retirement, calling him “arguably the best one to ever do it”.
In a recent post on X, formerly Twitter, Donald shared a clip teasing his upcoming retirement interview that will air next week.
In the video, as he reflected on his unbelievable NFL journey, the athlete broke fans’ hearts as he revealed he is “burnt out” which is why he decided to end his NFL career.
Donald listed: “Ten years, 10 Pro Bowls. Eight All-Pros, three Defensive Player of the Year awards, Defensive Rookie of the Year, two NFC championships, three NFC West championships. I went two Super Bowls, won one, lost one.”
“I’m complete. I’m full. I think the passion to play the game is no longer there for me.” Donald added. “I will always love football, but to think about going through another camp and another 17-game season, I just don’t have the urge to push myself to do that anymore. I’m burnt out.”
However, Donald, 32, emphasised feeling satisfied with his accomplishments over the past decade, signaling that it was time to transition to the next phase of his career and life.
